Where Drivers Look for an Auto Service Business

Auto services cover more than one kind of business. As one example, we looked at what a driver sees when searching for an auto repair shop with a "near me" search on a phone. Here is what we measured.

The map comes first.

In that search, Google's map of local businesses was the first result on the page, and Google showed no AI overview above the results.

Many profiles are thin.

In our sample of auto repair shops, 57% had fewer than 25 Google reviews.

Some ratings are low.

In the same sample, 21% were rated below 4.0 stars.

Some profiles were never claimed.

28% of the auto repair shops in the sample had a Google profile that the business had not claimed.

There are 1,289 auto repair businesses within 15 km of the center of a large Arizona city in the data we used. We looked at the first 100 of them. Auto repair shops are one example of the auto trade, and these numbers are not a claim about every kind of auto business. Based on the first 100 auto repair businesses within 15 km of the center of a large Arizona city; one "near me" search on a phone, one day. Measured October 11, 2026. This is not all of Arizona.

Where an Auto Business Can Be Missed on Google

If any of these looks like your business today, that is where our work starts.

Google profile

The map shows up before your website does, and your profile may not be on it.

In our sample of auto repair shops, a "near me" search put Google's map of local businesses first on the page. 28% of the auto repair shops we checked had a Google profile that was never claimed.

What we do. Your profile is claimed, complete and kept current, so your business is a choice on that map, not a name under it. If it was never claimed, we start there.

Reviews

A rating or a review count that doesn't show your business at its best.

In our sample of auto repair shops, 57% had fewer than 25 Google reviews, and 21% were rated below 4.0 stars.

What we do. Every customer gets asked for a review, the same way, every time, and every review gets a reply. We ask every customer, not just the happy ones. We don't remove reviews, and we can't promise a higher rating.

Website & AI search

Your website may not say plainly what you do, where you are and how to call.

A website is where a visit can turn into a call, and it can only do that if a stranger sees those three things at a glance. You can check yours in a minute: open your home page as a stranger would, and look for them.

What we do. We work on the website you already have and set up your AI search visibility, so your business is one an assistant can find and describe. We do not promise a place in any AI answer.

What Local SEO for Auto Services Includes, in Four Places

Google Maps.

This is where your rating, your reviews and your replies live, and it is where the plan we'd start an auto business on begins. We optimize your Google Business Profile, and if it was never claimed, we start there. We set up a way to ask every customer for a review, and we handle the replies. We ask every customer, not just the happy ones, and we never offer anything in return for a review.

Google Search.

We keep your business details consistent across the directories customers use, and track where you show up locally.

Your website.

From Local Growth, we work on the website you already have: its pages, how it turns visitors into calls, and what Google can read on it. A new website is a separate offer.

AI search.

Assistants may describe your business, and we help them understand who you are, what you do and where you operate. In Local Growth we set up your AI search visibility. In Local Authority we monitor it. We do not promise a place in any AI answer, and AI answers change from month to month.

How It Starts for an Auto Business

1

A 15-minute intro call.

Free. Before the call, we look at your online presence. On the call, we show you three things: how you show up on Google today, your reviews (rating, number, how recent they are and whether they're answered), and whether your website clearly shows your services, your location and how to reach you.

2

A straight answer.

We tell you what we'd do, or tell you straight if we're not the right fit. No pressure, no obligation.

3

A 90-day start.

If you go ahead, the one-time $500 setup covers the work we do once at the start: your Google profile, the review-request system (QR code, SMS and email), your business listings and a starting measurement. Your 90-Day Progress Review compares against that measurement.

Questions Auto Business Owners Ask Us

Do you work with auto service businesses?

Yes. Auto service businesses are among the kinds of local business we work with, and the same three plans apply to every kind.

How much does local SEO for an auto business cost?

Local Visibility is $377 a month, Local Growth $577 and Local Authority $877, plus a one-time $500 setup. The prices are the same for every kind of business. Each plan lists exactly what is in it, so you can see what the monthly price covers.

How long do I have to stay?

Plans start with a 90-day minimum. After that, you can cancel with 30 days' notice. Your 90-Day Progress Review comes at the end of the first 90 days, so you see what was done before you decide anything.

Will you get my business to number one on Google, and how will I know it's working?

No, and nobody honest can promise that. We don't guarantee rankings or call counts. At 90 days we review your Google visibility, reviews, website activity and completed optimization work with you, so you can see what has changed. Between those reviews, you get a monthly visibility review, and we handle replies to your Google reviews.

What do you do about my Google reviews?

We set up a way to ask every customer for a review, such as a QR code, SMS and email, and we handle replies to the reviews you get. We don't write reviews for you, and we ask every customer, not just the happy ones. We don't remove reviews, and we can't promise a higher rating.

What if my business's Google profile was never claimed, or is out of date?

That is one of the first things we look at on the intro call. Setting up and optimizing your Google Business Profile is part of the one-time $500 setup, and keeping it in order is part of every plan.

Do I need a new website?

Not to start. The plans cover work on the website you already have, from Local Growth. A new website is a separate offer: see New Websites.

What happens on the intro call?

It's 15 minutes. We look at how you show up on Google today, your reviews and your website, then tell you what we'd do, or tell you straight if we're not the right fit. No pressure, no obligation.
